Finally! I finally was able to turn some laps in that beautiful 1937 Chevy #46 Vintage modified owned by Bruce James Racing. The weather Saturday night was absolutely perfect and we had a respectable field of cars. Going in to a turn on a dirt track for the first time in nearly 20 years was every bit as cool as I thought it would be.

Filled with excitement, I arrived at the track with helmet and fire suit ready for some action. After two straight cancellations this night was looking pretty good. I really like the feel of just being at the race track with friends and trading stories as we prepare the cars. But, nothing compares to actually climbing into the car and getting set to take some laps.

As I was getting situated in the car, buckling belts and getting acclimated, it occurred to me that I had no idea how this car would run and handle. That made it that much more exciting to me. Driving around the pit to enter the track I wondered if I should take it easy for a couple of laps or hit it wide open when it occurred to me that we may only get 4 or 5 laps of practice. So, I chose to hit it wide open. I took it pretty deep into turn 3 on the first green practice lap and that felt pretty good. That is, until I attempted to set the car and drive off 4. The car snapped right then snapped back left as I tried to correct it. Driving down the front stretch, I decided to go ahead and drive just as hard into 1 and try my luck
