Thursday, August 11, 2011 marks the 20th anniversary of J.D.'s death and there is no better day than today to share this with you. This was originally written in November of 2004, but things down Memory Lane don't change much with time. As you read my description of J.D.'s racing equipment, crew and budget, please keep in mind that this good man never started a race with the intention of parking...not once. How the times have changed!

This Bud's for you J.D.!

Down Memory Lane ~ J. D. McDuffie

In loving memory of John Delphus McDuffie

December 5, 1938 – August 11, 1991

Most of our trips down the lane have been to revisit famous drivers from the Winston/ Nextel/ Sprint Cup or Grand National circuit or in a few cases to revisit a particularly moving or important race from days gone by. Today’s journey will be a bit different, in that we are remembering a driver that never made much of a dent in the record books; a driver whose only claim to fame was a love for racing and the fact that he was one heck of a nice guy.
