Remember how many of those matchbooks had the little picture inside with the encouragement “draw me” and submit it to the address included in the matchbook and your drawing would be “judged by a panel of expert artists to determine whether or not you should enroll in The Acme School of Fine Arts”. It was a given that you would receive a letter advising you that your artistic ability exceeds that of the average person and with just the right amount of instruction from The Acme School of Fine Arts you could be another Rembrandt or Van Gogh.
