Activities will begin Saturday morning at 10 a.m. and will include ribbon cuttings and remarks from a wide array of special guests including Pennsylvania State Senator Rich Alloway, keynote speaker and National Funny Car Champion Bruce Larson, and sprint car champion Doug Wolfgang.
On hand for the 1 p.m. dedication of the newly expanded drag racing area entitled a “Salute to the Ground Pounders” will be a veritable Who’s Who of Eastern Drag Racing including veteran drag racing announcer George Nye, Pro Stock innovator Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins, and the widow of a legend in Funny Cars, Mrs. Ronnie Sox.
Throughout the afternoon fans will be entertained by ongoing autograph sessions and round table discussions with stars from both yesterday and today sharing exciting stories about their respective sports, be it sprint cars, late models, modifieds, or drag cars.
“All of us at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing are thrilled to be able to share with the eastern race fans this exciting opening of our museum expansion,” said EMMR President Lynn Paxton. “We will have exciting displays and discussions for fans of all ages including a “Crackling Thunder” on Sunday afternoon where the fans can hear the distinctive sound of the early dragsters as the engines are fired.”
