MAY 1, 2012 LEGENDTORIAL

Wow! May First already. Where is this year going? Perhaps a better question would be “where is this racing season going”? So far this year, the Cup series has not impressed me much. Nationwide has its moments. I would have to say the best racing I’ve seen this year was the Shelby Track Vintage Racing Series event from a couple weeks ago, mainly because it was such old school racing with drivers who literally raced for nothing but a trophy and had a very good time doing it. It was quite a treat to see stock looking cars on a dirt track, power sliding around the turns. It has been said that “rubbin’ is racing” and if that’s true, there was sure racing going on at Shelby that day. After seeing that, the Cup race from Kansas was so boring it would have actually been more entertaining to watch grass grow. From the looks of the grandstands in Kansas, seems I had a lot of folks agree with me.
