On most every Friday night between early spring and late summer, racing engines roar to life at Kingsport Speedway. The small concrete bullring located in the Bloomingdale community attracts racers from across the tri-state area, lured by the promise of hard-nosed racing on a track that has challenged legends like Richard Petty and Richie Evans.
As the green flag falls at the start of the 60-lap Late Model feature, a pack of brightly colored cars barrels into turn one before exploding full throttle onto the backstretch.
