I am sure there are some of you sitting out there right now just waiting to hear what I’m about to say! I know that more than one of you think I come across as a know-it-all expert who never really knows what I’m talking about. To those folks I would say that, as I always have, the opinions expressed here are mine and I’m entitled to express them here because Jeff pays me the big bucks to do so. To those same folks I reiterate, as always, that you have the right to respond either in a Forum Post, a Blog post, or e-mail me at my direct e-mail which I will give you at the end of this segment. You may also comment in chat right now although I may not have time to respond to that.
I am going to make this one point perfectly clear. I will make no further criticism of drivers in NASCAR unless, in my opinion, they do something totally outside the bounds of common sense. Yes, I know this is a common occurrence, but it has occurred to me, especially after watching the Cup race from Atlanta this weekend, that there is no way I could drive those cars. I will now readily admit, and I am putting it in writing, that I would not be able to beat Danica Patrick in a 50 lap race. She has won ONE race in Indy Cars and that’s one more than I ever won in my five year NASCAR career. Sometimes I think back to that night in Savannah when it would have taken the slightest bump on Johnny Mallonee’s quarterpanel and I would have won ONE race, but knowing how things are today, I am very glad I choose to run second. I will point out, however, that my recollection of the finish says he beat me by about six inches, NOT the two feet he alleges.
