Rebuttal ~ NASCAR and NCAAF Announcers
by: PattyKay Lilley
Good day gentle readers. This morning, as I was preparing Tim Leeming's Legendtorial for publication I found some points with which I was in disagreement and a few others that I thought could stand to be expounded upon and stressed. Well, since it's Tim's regular column, that precluded a Tireside Chat, so I thought to myself, "Self, why not do a point/counterpoint type column and run it with his?" Myself was in agreement with me, so here we go.
My intent is to speak to the issues of broadcasting in both sports, as Mr. Leeming admits to a deficiency in his understanding of football rules. Therefore I'll skip the part about Tim not being able to beat Danica Patrick in a 50-lap race except to say that I don't believe it would matter if it were 50 laps at Martinsville or 50 laps at Talladega; she would still win. Tim, Dear Heart, there is a definite difference between 30 and 65, and no, I'm not talking mph there. (There also is a size limit as to what will fit either entering or exiting a Cup car.)
