Columbia Speedway Memories

My Columbia Speedway Short Story

As some of you know, I met Jeff Gilder in 2009 shortly after he obtained “official” permission in November of 2008 to hold the First Annual RacersReunion® event at Columbia Speedway in Columbia, S.C.  We became “F2” RacersReunion friends within a month after the press conference was held announcing the upcoming event the Historic Columbia Speedway.  (F2 means fast and furious.)

Jeff Gilder and RacersReunion represent everything I could hope to envision happening at the Historic Columbia Speedway someday.  I quickly became involved as a volunteer.  I believe in what Mr. Gilder is doing and this was my home track.  I loved being at the speedway as a child.  It was great family fun and everyone was always smiling and having much fun.  There’s nothing like the memories made at the smaller tracks and I hope someday the speedway will become a National Historic Site.   The first NASCAR event under the lights was held there, which many people do not know.
