It's time for another tale of Southern Nights in old Georgia, as told by our host and tour guide, Johnny Mallonee. This time, we'll be revisiting a track mentioned earlier in our travels, McRae Speedway. As you'll see upon reading, Johnny had a brand new toy that year... a gift from Santa perhaps? It surely would seem so, as you can hear the little kid in his voice as he talks about that new car. Of course, the term "new" is relative here, as I believe the car is a 1955 model and it's now 1968, but that was the way racing was back then. My very first exposure to stock car racing was back in I guess it must have been 1953 or 1954, but the cars I saw that night were of a prewar vintage, circa 1938 or 1939.
