Louis Jerome Vogt was born in September of 1904 in Washington D.C. He was called "Red" by many early on because of his unmistakable reddish/orange hair. While his father worked for the U.S treasury department, Red was interested in other things. At the age of 12, he got a job at the local Cadillac dealership, sweeping floors. By the age of 16, he was named 'shop foreman' after the owner took notice of his remarkable fascination
