2013 Induction of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame
This Friday is the 2013 Georgia Racing Hall of Fame Induction Banquet & Ceremony! This is the first time in almost ten years that our annual event is NOT being held the fourth weekend in October, during the very crowded Moonshine Festival. This was an effort to make the induction ceremony an event of it's own and to be after all racing in the south ended.
This Friday, we will be honoring the five men that we announced as this year's inductees during our annual Memorial Day Car Show at the GRHOF. The inductees this year include- late model driver and eventual NASCAR driver, Charles Barrett, WWII Veteran and pioneer midget racer, Hank Blalock, pioneer racing promoter, car owner and husband of early driver and fellow inductee, Sara ,Frank Christian, well-known southern late model and modified driver, Freddy Fryar, and legendary NHRA Funny Car racer, Huston Platt. Along with these honorees for the night of history, we will also honor the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame 'Driver of the Year', Chase Elliott, for his accomplishments in auto racing this year. We will also give the 'Jimmy Mosteller Memorial Journalism Excellence Award' to long time Auto-Racing reporter for the Atlanta area, Jim Minter. We also are planning a few other awards, but those are currently top secret!
