DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Things are really taking shape for two events with the second annual Back To The Roots event planned at Main Street Station (316 Main St) where the late NASCAR President Bill France operated his gas station/garage in Daytona Beach on Monday, February 17, 2014 and followed by the ninth annual Victory Lane Racing Association banquet on Tuesday, February 18.
The Back To The Roots event kicks off at 5 p.m. with the presentation of bricks to racing Bettie Panch, Dick Trickle, Crystal Pistone, Marion Cox and Olin Hope for the Main Street Station Walk Of Fame. An autograph session featuring many VIPs in racing is followed by the finale which is an auction of racing memorabilia. All proceeds from the auction goes to the Victory Lane Racing Association Racers Helping Racers Fund.
The Monday night affair is free and will feature several vintage race cars, and fans are welcome to walk around the area and view the cars as well as getting autographs from the likes of Humpy Wheeler, Jack Ingram, Steve Waid, Bobby Allison, Donnie Allison, Reb Wickersham, Waddell Wilson, Marvin Panch, Buz McKim, Don Miller, Tom Pistone, Linda Vaughn, Travis Carter, Gene Hobby, Nina Cox, Dave Marcis, Freddy Smith, Bill Wimble, Dr. Don Tarr, Eddie Spurling and Jack Cook, Sr. Also, Olin Hope, Russ Truelove, Yalanda Sheridan, Tom Higgins, Chocolate Myers, Rex White, Deb Williams, Nina Cox, Ozzie Altman, Haskell Willingham, Sean Corr, Morgan Shepherd, Dargan Watts, plus Dick and Eva Foley.
The Tuesday night banquet will feature at tremendous number of legends presenting awards to some of the top honorees to ever grace the sport of auto racing. The banquet will be held at the Pelican Bay Golf and Country Club and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at a cost of $40.
