I had the occasion to spend this past weekend with Ann's sister and brother-in-law in their home in Asheville, N.C. This is more than a rare opportunity for us as we visit often to enjoy the hospitality and the beautiful mountain views from their home located high up on the side of a mountain. Every time we visit, I always read the Sunday paper to see what the local Asheville folks are talking about in NASCAR racing. Asheville was once a hot spot for stock car racing and moonshine running, but is more attuned now to street performers and massive crowds of young people walking the streets in the evening. My brother-in-law even has a sticker on his Prius (I know, right), that says "If you're too weird for Asheville, you're too weird". Usually the Sunday edition of Asheville's Citizen-Times will mention a paragraph or three about the race coming up that day.
