Jackie, don't believe Heyward ever run with us at Greenville Pickens. If he ever drove there it was not enough to have made the ppoints system.

OOPS! Sorry, my mistake! I was just looking at the fence and stands and thought it was the old Concord track.

I think that's old Concord Speedway that was off Poplar tent road, seen in "The Last American Hero" .Last race was NDRA race in 1979, site of housing development now.

Gary 66 and Jackie Sims, with a "red" face of embarrassment and feeling our 76 years, we need to apologize to each of you about the picture of Track Champions. You are both right and we are wrong!! The people receiving the trophies are Ralph Earnhardt, Heywood Plyler, unknown, Freddie Smith, Bill Banker, and Billy Scott. The track is as you stated Concord Speedway. We got this one confused with the Greenville Pickens picture and when we looked on it for Doug Cox, we realized what we had done. Note the white pants! Billy always wore white pants to races. The others began to wear them and after a couple of times they wanted to know how to get the mud out of them. Barbara started taking the white pants to Union, S.C. where a laundry had some chemical to take the mud out. Billy was also the first to wear a uniform and the same thing happened with the mud. All the uniforms were gathered after the race and took to Union to be laundried and returned the next race. Please accept our apology and thanks for your setting us "old people" straight !!! Stay with us as we may need you in the future.God bless and we love you.

No problem! I thought it looked like Heyward and I thought I recognized the fence and stands as being the old Concord track. I never went to Greenville Pickens but I remember going to the old Concord track back in the day. I'm really enjoying seeing the pictures you have been posting. Some I have saw before and some I'm seeing for the first time. I have many great memories from those days and PLEASE keep the pictures coming! Thank you again for posting!
