Where was (or is) the Apollo Restaurant on Hwy. 29 ?
@billy-barbara-scott13 years ago
Hi Steve, the Apollo Restaurant was right across the road where Harry Hyde's shop was, then it changed to Simpson Racing Products and don't know what it is called now. The Apollo is still there, in building only, as some business moved inlike an insurance office one time. We were real close friends with the Littles who owned the Apollo, and would go there to eat and just to talk to all the folks who came in. All the drivers use to come in at one time are the other. The Littles'( Fletcher and Betty) just retired when they sold it. Guess it brought enough, they didn't have to work. As the Archie Bunker show used to sing ":Those were the days".God bless Steve and we love you,Billy and Barbara

Is this the same car that O.L. Nixon later owned and was driven by Carl Smart and Stick Elliott?Or was it a different car?
@billy-barbara-scott13 years ago Hi Gary,after Billy left the car, Stick Elliott drove it for about a month, then Carl Smart did drive but it was never owned by O.L.. It was always owned by Jivie and Bud.God bless and we love you,Billy and Barbara

Nice Bet It Was A Fast Car At Least It Looks Fast and Probably won A Few Races
@billy-barbara-scott13 years ago Ron, the car was very fast and won many races. The owner Jivie Simpson is really sick and needs all of our prayers. He woked his last working days at Charlotte Motor Speedway. .One of the smartest car owner and builder we ever met. When we started driving for Jivie, he told us he wanted one thing out of us, to outrun Ralph Earnhardt. We did, many times and made him very happy. God bless and we love you, Billy and Barbara.

glitter-graphics.com Wally, didn't realize how close our paths used to be. Thank you for your comments and prayers for Jivie, as he is really low at present. Before I forget, This is his telephone- number (704-786-0423) home and (704-794-2881) cell, he really likes to hear from friends. Sometimes we speak to Barbara, his wife, if he is resting. If you remember Shirley (Jivie's ex) and Bill Taylor who were very close to Henry and Yvonne, you may not know that Bill passed away about 3 weeks ago. We try to stay in touch with them as we were very close, not only as driver of their car but real good friends. Really appreciate your comments Wally. God bless and we love you, Billy and Barbara
