This week, Eddie Samples introduces us to someone who saw a heck of a lot in a short amount of time back in the pioneer days over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Lanier Englett followed his friend Billy Carden into racing, and faced off against some of the best drivers of the early days of modern stock car racing. He competed at the Peach Bowl, at Lakewood, at Birmingham, Greenville and at several other early NASCAR venues. He was friends with legends like Carden, Hugh Babb, the Flock Brothers and more. And now, we take a look at the times and careers of a true Georgia original, Lanier Englett. Go have a look at his story over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Hey, mark your calendars - the folks over at RacersReunion.com are busily preparing for the inaugural Middle Georgia Racer's Reunion, to be held March 11-12 at the old Middle Georgia Raceway near Byron, Georgia. Former drivers, fans, and just friends of racing in general are invited. Admission is $5 for both days, with kids under 8 admitted free for this celebration of Georgia's Racing History. For more information, check out their web site, and we hope to see you there!

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on Feb. 11 to Burt Reynolds and Andy Lally, on Feb. 15 to Freddy Fryar and on Feb. 16 in memory of Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Bill Gazaway (1930-2006) and Talmadge Prince (1938-1970).

Thanks everybody, have a great weekend!
