Let me start by saying this - if you didn't get excited by some of the great racing we had last Sunday at Monaco, Indianapolis and Charlotte, you might want to check you pulse. Congrats to all the winners, and congrats to Georgia's own David Ragan for his strong second place finish in the Coca-Cola 600 from everyone here at GRH.com!

Now, the other reason you should have been excited last weekend was the Grand Reopening of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame on Saturday!

With sunny, Petty Blue skies overhead, a huge crowd of fans and friends of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame came out for the ribbon cutting, car show, autograph session and more on Sunday! A large number of our Hall of Famers were on hand, and a great time was had by all! If you missed it, you missed a great party.....but thanks to GRH.com contributor and friend Justin Poole's photography, you have a chance to see what went on this week over at Georgia Racing History.com .

We need to slow down a second now and remember a lost Georgia racer, Shorty (Vernon) Tanner , who passed away of a massive stroke on May 11. Shorty was well known around the Peach Bowl during the late 50s through the 70s, winning quite a few races along the way. Tanner was survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.

Georgia Racing Hall of Famer Jack Jackson was kind enough to share this information with us, adding " He only missed two Peach Bowl Speedway reunions and one of them was when he broke either an arm or leg."

Please keep Shorty's family and friends in your hearts and prayers. Thanks again to Jack Jackson for sharing this information with us.

Folks, the next class for the NASCAR Hall of Fame will be chosen soon, and it's up to us to do our part to try to help the Georgia Gang get in this year! Raymond Parks , Tim Flock and Red Byron are all up again this year, and we need to make a statement and do all we can to get one or more of them in NASCAR's Hall of Fame this year. So, how can you do your part? Just go here and place your vote for Mr. Parks, Tim and Red! You can only vote once an hour, so make sure your vote is heard! You have until June 12 to vote, so we've got a lot of work to do and not a lot of time to do it. For more information on the NASCAR Hall of Fame, go here . Let's get the job done this year, and make a Georgia great a member of the 2012 induction class to the NASCAR Hall of Fame!

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on June 3 in memory of Barney Oldfield (1878-1946), on June 5 in memory of Raymond Parks (1914-2010), on June 6 to Wilbur Rakestraw and on June 8 in memory of Frank "Rebel" Mundy (1918-2009).

Thanks everybody, and have a great week!
