This week, we remember a Georgia racing legend over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Unfortunately, last week we lost Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Jimmy Summerour. Jimmy had been fighting illness for quite a while, but would never let it slow him down or keep him from being where he wanted to be. Anytime there was a Hall of Fame event, Jimmy was there with a smile on his face and a warm handshake at the ready.

Jimmy started out as a mechanic, and that took him on a ride that led him down quarter-mile dragstrips across the southeast and also into the world of NASCAR. He was a good friend and a true racing legend. This week, Mike Bell tells us Jimmy Summerour's story over at Georgia Racing History.com .

I just want to say thank you again to everybody for their patronage of our new sister site, Raceweek Illustrated.com . Our hope is to bring news from all across the world of motorsports with a special focus on our hometown heroes. If you haven't had a chance to visit it yet, please be sure to check out Raceweek Illustrated.com .

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on July 2 to Richard Petty, on July 5 in memory of Roscoe Thompson (1922-1988), on July 6 to Delma Cowart and Johnny Sudderth and on July 7 to Greg Trammell. Thanks everybody, and have a great week!
