This week, we take a look at a NASCAR pioneer and 2011 inductee into the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame this week over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Baldwin, Georgia's Swayne Pritchett became interested in speed and automobiles early on. He became involved in racing after World War II, and soon became one of the biggest names in the fast growing sport of stock car racing.

While racing during the inaugural NASCAR season, Pritchett did so well that he found himself in sixth in points going into mid-May. But then came a non-NASCAR race at the Jackson County Speedway on May 16, 1948, and a tragic race day. You can read more about that day and about Swayne Pritchett's career this week over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Tomorrow is the big day! Saturday is the day of the fourth annual Lakewood Speedway Reunion , scheduled for Aug. 6 at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, Georgia. This year's reunion will be held in honor of Hall of Fame member Jimmy Summerour !

Plus, we've been told to expect some visits by some very, very special people! So be sure to join us tomorrow! For more information on the reunion, and to buy tickets, go to the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame website .

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on Aug. 5 to Charlie Padgett.

Thanks everybody, and have a great week!
