This week, we take a look at a NASCAR pioneer and 2011 inductee into the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame this week over at Georgia Racing History.com .

After coming home from World War II, former Army tank driver Harold Kite , of East Point, Georgia, found the speed and excitement of the race tracks of the southeast to be the thing for him.

After racing and winning at tracks like the Peach Bowl and Lakewood Speedway, Kite tried his hand at NASCAR's new Strictly Stock division at Daytona Beach in 1950, and bested one of the all time greats, Georgia Racing Hall of Famer Red Byron, to pick up the win in his first start!

This week, we take a look at the racing life and legacy of 2011 Georgia Racing Hall of Famer Harold Kite over at Georgia Racing History.com .

A huge thank you to all our volunteers and to all of you who came out to join us last week at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame for the fourth annual Lakewood Speedway Reunion . We were especially happy to be able to honor GRHOF member Jimmy Summerour , and to present his wife, Brenda , with an award in Jimmy's honor. Also on hand was 2003 GRHOF inductee Jimmy Mosteller . It was great hearing everybody's "Little Biddy Buddy" on the mic again, and we were very proud to be able to honor him as well. Thanks again to everyone, and we look forward to next year's event!

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on Aug. 16 to GRHOF volunteer Cody Dinsmore and on Aug. 17 to 2003 GRHOF inductee Rex White .Thanks everybody, and have a great week!
