Hi folks, I hope everyone has had a great week!
This week, we continue our look at the 2011 Class of Inductees into the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame over at Georgia Racing History .com .
When you ask people about George Elliott , you'll hear a lot about his work ethic. They'll tell you about how hard he and his family worked to build their little race team out of Dawsonville, Georgia into a competitor. They'll talk about his love for his family, and his giving nature. They'll talk about all he did to help not only people in his community, but his fellow competitors at the race track.
If you talk to his family, they'll tell you about how proud they are of him, and about the influence they had not only on their private lives but on the way they approach their livelihood.
On Oct. 21, they will have another thing to be proud of - that George Elliott is a member of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame. You can read more about George and his career this week over at Georgia Racing History .com .
Some sad news: we send out condolences out to former Athens Speedway competitor Steve Coker and his family on the loss of his mother. Please keep Steve and his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.
Some good news: We got to visit with Harold and C.L. Pritchett at the Hall of Fame last Sunday, as we prepare for the Oct. 21 induction banquet, when their father, Swayne Pritchett , will go into the Hall of Fame. Harold said he is doing much better, so we can all be thankful for that!
Also, thank you to Ken Ragan and Lisa Carson for coming out to help us prepare for the banquet - Ken is a great story teller, and when you talk to Lisa about her father, 2011 GRHOF inductee Harold Kite , there's no doubt that he's been a Hall of Famer in her heart for many, many years! This year's banquet will be great!
If you're planning on going out to the Advocare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Labor Day Weekend, make sure to look for the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame's display there at the track! Several of our Hall of Famers will be on hand to sign autographs, meet the fans and be part of the great race weekend! Plus, members of the 2010 GRHOF class will be introduced to the crowd as part of the opening ceremonies! A special thanks goes out to Ed Clark and his staff at AMS for all their giving and hard work to help us honor our Hall of Fame members and to spread the word about the GRHOF! Happy Birthday wishes go out this week (a day late) on Aug. 18 to Micky Cain , on Aug. 19 to NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Inman , on Aug. 22 in memory of Georgia Racing Hall of Famer Bob Burcham (1935-2009) and on Aug. 23 to Anthony Lazzaro .
Thanks everybody, and have a great week!
