Over the years, the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame has housed many cars driven by many heroes. But one car on display has a unique connection to one of Georgia's racing greats as well as to one of the biggest racing disasters in racing history. We have it's story this week over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Huston Platt was one of Georgia's great drag racing heroes. Racing at drag strips all over the country, Platt made a name for himself as a strong racer everywhere he went. But in 1969, and accident not of his making tied him to the biggest motorsports disasters in United States history. Platt was cleared in the accident, but would leave racing soon after. In recent years, Platt was reunited with his famed "Dixie Twister" Funny Car, and his talents would be recognized. Platt passed away in Nov. of last year, but he is in a place of honor right now, as the "Dixie Twister" is on display at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA. GRH.com contributor Angela Williamson tells us the story of Platt and the Twister this week over at Georgia Racing History.com .

In other news, Sunday is the big day - the day of the 23rd annual Peach Bowl Speedway Reunion, which is slated for Jan. 29 at the American Legion in Austell, GA. It's always one of the top racing reunions of the year, and it's one you don't want to miss! Susan Morgan has been working hard on the event, and you can email her for more info at samorgan5@comcast.net, or you can visit Raceweek Illustrated and click the link on the right.

The sixth annual Legends Helping Legends event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 10am-2pm at Memory Lane Museum in Mooresville, NC. The event will be held in honor of the racing Flock family. For more info, click here .

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on Jan. 30 in memory of Georgia Racing Hall of Famer Roy Hall (1920-1991).
