Hi folks, I hope everyone has had a good week.

This week, we look at the life of a pioneer Georgia racing mechanic over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Billie "Sunday" Hester got his start in 'Fodderville', coming up in Lathemtown, north of Atlanta. From there, he would become one of the top racing mechanics in the state, operating out of his famed Cherokee Garage in Atlanta. He would help such drivers as Gober Sosebee, Jerry Wimbish, and Charlie Mincey make their way to victory lane time and time again. Eddie Samples has a look at the life and career of Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Billy Hester this week over at Georgia Racing History.com .

In other news, plans are underway for the third annual Athens Speedway Reunion, to be held April 14, 2012 at South Jackson Elementary School near Jefferson, GA from 10 am - 4 pm. For more info, contact Freddie Massey at 706-543-4249, Donald Brooks at 706-658-7006 or Charles Burkhalter, Jr. at 706-207-0516.

Several regional race tracks and race series are ramping up to start their 2012 seasons over the next few weeks. With that in mind, we want to recommend a visit to our sister site, Raceweek Illustrated , to keep up with all the happenings in short track racing. Raceweek Illustrated covers all kinds of racing, but specializes in covering short track action, especially in the southeast. So please be sure to visit Raceweek Illustrated for all the latest racing news updates.

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on March 27 to Cale Yarborough, Maurice Petty, and Parker Johnstone.

Thanks everybody, and have a great weekend!
