This week, we look at the impact Georgia Racers have had at one of the most historic speedways in the south over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Martinsville Speedway has been a part of modern stock car racing since before the inception of NASCAR. And from the start, the Georgia Gang has played a part in writing the history of the sport at the speedway. In fact, two Georgia Racing Hall of Fame members, Fonty Flock and Red Byron, won the first two NASCAR events ever held at the track. We look at the impact of Georgia racers on the famed Virginia speedway this week over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Our thoughts and prayers go out to two members of the Georgia Racing History community this week. GRHOF Board Member Angela Williamson lost her grandmother earlier this week, while Georgia Racing Historian and GRH.com contributor Mike Bell lost his sister. Please keep both of them and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

In other news, plans are underway for the third annual Athens Speedway Reunion, to be held April 14, 2012 at South Jackson Elementary School near Jefferson, GA from 10 am - 4 pm. For more info, contact Freddie Massey at 706-543-4249, Donald Brooks at 706-658-7006 or Charles Burkhalter, Jr. at 706-207-0516.

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on April 1 in memory of Georgia Racing Hall of Famer Billy Carden (1924-2004), on April 3 in memory of Bill France, Jr. (1933-2007), and on April 5 in memory of Herb Thomas (1923-2000).

Thanks everybody, and have a great weekend!
