This week, we look at the start of the short track season in the Peach State at Georgia Racing History.com .

With most of Georgia's speedways back in action around the state, fans have a lot to choose from to get their racing fix. Asphalt tracks and dirt tracks from North Georgia to South Georgia will be dishing up some of the best short track racing in the country. But without the fans' support, many once thriving tracks could find themselves in dire straights in the future. What's the key to keeping this to happen? We have a look this week over at Georgia Racing History.com .

In other news, plans are underway for the third annual Athens Speedway Reunion, to be held April 14, 2012 at South Jackson Elementary School near Jefferson, GA from 10 am - 4 pm. For more info, contact Freddie Massey at 706-543-4249, Donald Brooks at 706-658-7006 or Charles Burkhalter, Jr. at 706-207-0516.

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on April 6 in memory of Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member George Elliott (1924-1998), on April 7 in memory of Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member T.C. Hunt (1926-1995), on April 8 to Junie Donlavey and in memory of Nero Steptoe (1921-1985), on April 10 to Brett Butler, and on April 12 in memory of Curtis Turner (1924-1970).

Thanks everybody, and have a great weekend!
