We're back!
Hi folks, I hope everyone is doing well week. After a absence of several weeks, we are happy to announce a fresh story to at Georgia Racing History.com .
Back on June 16, the first North Georgia and Tennessee Racers Reunion was held at Gordon Brown's farm in Dalton, Georgia. The event, which was organized by Charlie Mincey, John Layton, Donald Brooks, Gordon Brown, and Mike Bell, and cross-promoted by the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, was a huge success, seeing a large number of former drivers come out to share stories and catch up with each other.
This week, Mike Bell has a look at the event in a photo-feature, with images provided by Linda Mincey and Mike Terrell. You can read more about it over at Georgia Racing History.com .
Now, we know a lot of you have been wondering what happened to the site. Well, as John Lennon once said, "Life is what happens while you're busy making plans." As many of you know, I launched a motorsports news website last year called Raceweek Illustrated . Earlier this year, I partnered with Dave Wiley of Georgia Broadcasting to do a weekly motorsports news television program called Raceweek Illustrated Garage Talk (which you can see on Windstream cable channel 4 or 15. Click here for more info). Due to the immense amount of time both took, something had to give. Unfortunately, that something, for a period of time, had to be Georgia Racing History.
But we're in the process of retooling, and we will soon be announcing the addition of new staff that will allow us to begin updating GRH.com on a regular basis again! We'll have more on that in the coming weeks.
But for now, we're happy to be back, and we hope to have fresh updates for the next several weeks as we continue to retool.
In other news, planning is now underway for the 5th annual Lakewood Speedway Reunion at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame on Aug. 11. Tickets in advance are $15, and $20 at the door. We'll have a big announcement next week on the focus of this year's event, as well as on some very special guests that will be with us. For now, visit here for more information.
Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on July 20 to 2012 Georgia Racing Hall Of Fame inductee Pete Hamilton and Ron Young, on July 21 to Sam Colvin, on July 23 to Buckshot Jones, on July 25 to Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Ernie Elliott, and on July 26 in memory of Ansel Rakestraw (1987-2004).
Thanks everybody, and have a great weekend!
Brandon Reed
