Fans and former racers will gather on Aug. 11 to remember the track known as "The Indianapolis of the South", as the fifth annual Lakewood Speedway Reunion is slated for the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA. In addition, NASCAR Hall of Fame nominee Cotton Owens and Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Jimmy Mosteller will be honored at the event. We also have some sad news to pass on to you this week, as we learned of the passing of former Georgia racer Biddle Ridley. Ridley, of Chastworth, GA, raced throughout the state, and also worked as a crewmember for his brohter, 1980 NASCAR Rookie of the Year and Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Jody Ridley. Biddle passed away on Monday, July 30. He was 72 years of age.

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week belatedly on Aug. 2 in memory of Hoot Gibson (1934-2007), and on Aug. 5 to Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Charlie Padgett.
