Hi folks, I hope everyone has had a great week. This week, we remember the history of the famed Lakewood Speedway at Georgia Racing History.com .

Dating back to 1915, you can trace the history of Lakewood Speedway, a history that included stock cars, Indy cars, midgets, sprint cars, motorcycles and event speedboats. This week, guest contributor Cody Dinsmore takes us back in time for a history lesson on the famed Atlanta raceway over at Georgia Racing History.com .

In other news, fans and former racers will gather on Aug. 11 to remember the track known as "The Indianapolis of the South", as the fifth annual Lakewood Speedway Reunion is slated for the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA. In addition, NASCAR Hall of Fame nominee Cotton Owens and Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Jimmy Mosteller will be honored at the event. You can get more info, along with a link for ticket info, visit www.georgiaracinghof.com .

We also have some sad news to pass on to you this week, as we learned of the passing of former Georgia racer Mike Bagwell. Bagwell was a former competitor around north Georgia, and was the son of Georgia Racing Hall of Famer Charlie Bagwell. Bagwell passed away on Wednesday. No services were planned. Please keep Mike's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. Our condolences go to his family and friends as well.

Also, please keep former Georgia racer Harold Pritchett in your thoughts and prayers. Harold, the son of Georgia Racing Hall of Famer Swayne Pritchett and the brother of former driver C.L. Pritchett, was injured while on a recent fishing trip. We send our thoughts and prayers out to Harold and his family.

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week belatedly on Aug. 16 to GRH.com contributor and GRHOF volunteer Cody Dinsmore.

Thanks everybody, and have a great weekend!
