This week, we take a look at the rise and fall of one of the south's most important early
racing organizations in a feature by Eddie Samples over at Georgia Racing History.com .

After World War II, several groups joined together to try to bringorganization to the young sport of stock car racing. One of the most important of these was a sanctioning body formed in Atlanta, Georgia
early in 1947 called the National Stock Car Racing Association, or NSCRA. Among the promoters of events on this circuit was Bill France, Sr.,Bruton Smith, Sam Nunis and Alf Knight.

But by the middle of1951, the NSCRA was gone. Questions still linger on the organization,
with many facts and files lost to us in the winds of time.

But we do know of the influence, the popularity and the championsthat emerged from the NSCRA. You can read more about it at Georgia Racing History.com .

Inother news, we received word late last week from Brother Bill Brannon that Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Ronnie Sanders' cancer surgery went well. Brother Bill relayed to us that the doctors said Ronnie is
now cancer free. That's great news, and we look forward to seeing "The Bomb" back out at the track sometime soon.

Congrats to David Murphy on his first win of the season driving theChapman Fence / Georgia Racing History.com Outlaw Late Model! He picked up the win at Lanier National Speedway last Saturday night. As always, thanks to David and his crew for helping us to promote Georgia's racing heritage!!!!

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on March 27 to Cale Yarborough, Maurice Petty and Parker Johnstone, and on April 1 in memory of Billy Carden (1924-2004).

Thankseverybody, and have a great weekend!
