Remembering The First Lady Of Racing

This week, weremember a Georgia racer who was a true trailblazer over at GeorgiaRacingHistory.com .

Louise Smith, of Barnesville, Georgia, was known as the "First Ladyof Racing". Along with Sara Christian and Ethel Flock, Smith racedalong the best of the day and stood on her own, recording 38 modifiedwins through her career. She learned driving tricks from Curtis Turner,and competed against some of the biggest names of the early days ofNASCAR. After leaving the cockpit, she remained around racing, and was afirm supporter of the history of the sport.

In 1991, she became the first lady to be inducted into theInternational Motorsports Hall of Fame in Talladega, Alabama. When shepassed away in 2006, she left a legacy that can't be denied. Weremember Louise Smith, and you can read all about it at Georgia RacingHistory.com .
