This weekend marks the 12th annual birthday party that Mr. J.B. Day has held for his friend, Georgia racing legend Raymond Parks at Mr. Day's place near Greenville-Pickens Speedway. With that in mind, we thought it would be a perfect time to tell you about one of the biggest supporters that Georgia racing history has over at Georgia Racing History.com .

From his first experience seeing a race car in action in the early 1940s, Jimmie Day has had a love for racing and the people who race. His heroes were people like the Flock Brothers, Ed Samples, Red Byron and car owner Raymond Parks.

This week, Eddie Samples tells us the story of J.B. Day, and how he has come to mean so much in helping to preserve the history of stock car racing, and of Georgia's racing heritage. You can read Mr. Day's story over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on June 5 to Raymond Parks, on June 6 to Wilbur Rakestraw June 8 in honor of Frank "Rebel" Mundy (1918-2009).

Thanks everybody, and I hope to see you at Mr. Parks' party this weekend!

Unfortunately the weekend of the Raymond Parks party is always the weekend my family vacation with the grandsons starts and I've never been able to attent. I have, however, met J.B.Day on more than one occassion, the first time back in 1994. He is a true hero of the sport for all he does. I still need to get up there and see his museum and I hope to do that before the summer is over. Thank you, J. B., for all you have done, are doing and, I'm sure, will continue to do for a long time to come. God bless you, my friend.Tim
