This week, we take a look at a few items over at Georgia Racing History.com .

June 26 marked the one year anniversary of the launching of Georgia Racing History.com! It's been a great first year, thanks to all of our readers, and to our contributors such as Mike Bell, Eddie Samples, Suzanne Reed, Patrick Aikens, Kathy Wilson, Justin Poole, Rick Minter, Ken Stanford and others.

This week we take a look back at our first year. We also take a look at third generation racer Jimmy Garmon, remember some of the folks that we've lost and delve into the attendance problems at race tracks all over the country.

All this action in one column - and you can read all about it over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Also, the NASCAR Hall of Fame announced the 25 nominees for the 2011 class of inductees. Among them are Raymond Parks, Red Byron and Tim Flock.

Considering the loss of Mr. Parks last month, we're hoping a grassroots push by the fans can get the message across to those who vote the importance of what Mr. Parks did for the the sport, and that he deserves to be in the hall this year.

Go to the NASCAR Hall of Fame website for more information on the nominees and on the fan vote.

For those of you who might not have heard, reports say 2009 Georgia Racing Hall of Fame inductee Buck Simmons has been hospitalized. Simmons, the winner of over 1,000 feature events in his career, reportedly suffered from pneumonia and congestive heart failure, and is currently in the intensive care unit of a Habersham County medical facility. We'll make sure to keep you posted on the latest. You can also check the GARHOFA website for updates. Please keep Buck and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Richard Petty and to GRH.com's own Patrick Aikens on July 2, to Roscoe Thompson on July 5, to Delma Cowart and Johnny Sudderth on July 6 and to Greg Trammell on July 7.

Thanks to all, and I hope everybody has a great Independence Day weekend!
