‘Have At It, Boys’ Becomes ‘Keep It Quiet, Boys’

This week I get up on my soap box a bit over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Earlier this week, the Associated Press reported that NASCAR has fined two drivers for speaking negatively about what's going on in the sport. In other words, the drivers went from being told "Boys, have at it" to "Boys, just be quiet."

The drivers being able to speak their minds has been one of the focal points of the sport. To suddenly decide they are no longer allowed to do that has me wondering just why NASCAR suddenly can't deal with the same criticism they've received over the lat 60-plus years.

You can read more about it in my column over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Also, we're putting out a call to anyone who might have any of Jack Etheridge's trophies, uniforms, helmets or other paraphernalia that they could loan to the Hall of Fame for the 2010 Inductees display. Anyone who has something that they would like to put on loan can contact us at raceinfoga@gmail.com

Please continue to keep Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member Jimmy Mosteller in your thoughts and prayers. Jimmy was been hospitalized recently, apparently suffering from a heart attack. Jimmy reported to be in good spirits, but he has more medical tests coming soon. Please keep everybody's "little bitty buddy" in your thoughts and prayers.

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on July 31 to Buck Simmons and in memory of Louise Smith (1916-2006) and on Aug. 5 to Charlie Padgett.

Thanks to all, and have a great weekend!
