First off, let me apologize for this week's update getting added so late. We're working hard to get things ready for next Friday's Georgia Racing Hall of Fame inductee banquet and time has not been on my side as of late. As a result, I didn't get a chance to get the update ready until late this morning. My apologies.

Speaking of next week's banquet, this week we have a look at the newest class of inductees into the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Earlier this year, five new inductees to the hall were chosen. They are motorcycle legend Ted Edwards, NASCAR championship winning crew chief and engine builder Ernie Elliott, pioneer open wheel and stock car racer Jack Etheridge, NASCAR sportsman championship winning car owner Laverne Kendrick and pioneer stock car racer and race official Jerry Wimbish.

We have a look at each of our inductees in a profile you can read this week over at Georgia Racing History.com .

Tickets are now available for the 2010 Georgia Racing Hall of Fame banquet. The banquet will be held on the evening of Oct. 22, and will include some new features that we've never had at any previous event, including a special recognition of all our past inductees! For more information or to purchase tickets, just visit www.georgiaracinghof.com .

In other news, as many of you undoubtedly know by now, legendary Georgia car owner Raymond Parks was again passed over for inclusion into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte last week. It's the second time Mr. Parks has been ignored. There's not much we can say, other than how disappointed we are at the news, and how determined we are to redouble our efforts to get Mr. Parks in.

In the meantime, remember to support the organizations that have recognized the man that, without his help, modern stock car racing would be back in the stone ages, such as the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, the Jacksonville Raceways Hall of Fame and the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame.

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week on Oct. 15 in memory of Gober Sosebee (1915-1996), Red Farmer and Chris Economaki and on Oct. 21 in memory of Jesse James Taylor (1929-2003).

Thanks everybody, and have a great weekend!
