This (Sunday) morning, 2009 Georgia Racing Hall of Fame inductee Tommie Irvin passed away at a hospice in Athens, Georgia.Tommie, the former winner at Lakewood Speedway and owner of the Banks County Speedway, had suffered a massive stroke around Thanksgiving, and his condition had slowly deteriorated since.Tommie was a great friend to racing, and a great ambassador for the Hall of Fame. We were fortunately able to honor him at Hall of Fame night earlier this year at Gresham Motorsports Park. Prior to that, I was able to do a sit down video interview with him that I hope to be able to share sometime soon.Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced. I'll share them with everyone once they are available. Please keep Mr. Tommie's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this tough time. Thanks,Brandon ReedGeorgia Racing History.com
