Brian, Ultimate Racing History lists the Whittaker/Shepherd car as an Olds and the Whittaker/Earnhardt car as a Pontiac, but I can't vouch for that. I "believe" the cars were both white with the numbers and Wrangler decals on the #15 being blue. #15 was used because that was the number Dale was driving for in Cup at the time with Bud Moore and Wrangler.

Note: If you look at the results of this race at the Racing Reference site, it shows Earnhardt's car as a Robert Gee car, which is incorrect. During this time period, Dale only drove LMS superspeedway races in the Robert Gee car and short track LMS races for Ed Whittaker.

I really appreciate this information. I would love to find a color picture of this car. Again I appreciate your help Dave.

I'm interested in this photo as well. I do not believe the Earnhardt car is a Pontiac. The grill doesn't "say" Pontiac to me. Both cars look to be the same model by looking at the nose. Only question is, what are they?

Bristol had a color pic on their website of Jack Ingram in victory lane with track co-owner Lanny Hester. http://www.bristolmotorspeedway.com/news_media/news_releases/bms-congratulates-2014-hof-inductees.html You might try emailing or tweeting BMS to see if they have a color pic of Earnhardt's car. If they do, maybe they'd share it on "Throwback Thursday" or other promo for one of their races.
