This photo was taken in front of my old Wrangler scorer's stand in the Richmond infield in February at the half-mile. If memory serves me, Bill even ran the shoebox at Daytona that first year all the other Ford teams ran the new T-bird.

The Elliotts ran the old style T-bird at Daytona in 1983 with Melling sponsorship. The other Ford factory teams used the new 1983 T-bird. Here's Bill racing Ron Bouchard in his 1983 Daytona 500 ride:

Cody, you'll see both Dale Earnhardt in the Bud Moore ride and Buddy Baker in the Wood Brothers Ford had the new 1983 Thunderbird at Daytona in Feb. 1983. Dale hated thta car, however... called it "The Football." Standing behind dale during his victory lane interview in the first daytona qualifying race is the late Kenny "Red" Myler, Maurice Petty's father-in-law and the builder of rear end gears for Bud Moore at the time.
