10% chance of rain until 3 PM then 20%. We'll be finished by then. C'mon out and see some old school racing.

Bobby, I had really planned on bringing the ole 35 chevy coupe modified up from Orlando to run with you at The Vintage Championship Series in Shelby today but had a small problem last Tuesday 4/17/12. I was in the hospital for 4 days so figured I could get a pass by promising to come up and run with you as soon as I'm able to. I, like others are eagerly awaiting info, news and photo's. Bill McPeek

Just curious on the outcome today. Was there a lot of damage or did everyone play nice?

Thank you City of Shelby; Cleveland County Fairgrounds, Michael W. Smith, Jeff Gilder and Racers Reunion, and all the support personell that made it possible but mostly, thank you to the fans in the grandstand that came out to share our enthusiasm, you were the best group of fans I've seen anywhere, at any track. Had a fantastic day today...simply, in a word, Thanks!

They raced hard Bill like back in the day. They banged around a little but put on a very exciting show. Love to have them all back. The crown loved it. To see the different brands was very cool! W

Hey W! What a great day! :)

Weeded through over 200 photos and video clips last night. Will share some photos here in a Forum Post later. Compiling a video movie is gonna take a little longer but I will send you a link to it once I've completed it.

Thank you!

Devin

It was an historic day in Shelby, NC in front of a packed grandstand to watch racing at the fairgrounds in it's purest form, absent for 40 years. Three different vintage racing series and exhibitions came to support the return of dirt track stock car racing to this small southern town nestled in the lower southwestern edge of North Carolina. The enthusiastic fans cheered some drivers and jeered others as the green flag dropped and the sights, sounds and smells of roaring engines filled the fairgrounds. They raced the cars like they stole them, it was flat out from the green flag to the checkers and bumper to bumper. Yesterday I raced against some of the finest drivers I've ever known, Bobby from Shallotte, NC, Peter from Eastover, NC, Sherman from Conway, SC, Wild Bill from Shallotte, NC and "The Mountain Man" Kenneth from Mount Airy, NC. It was also an honor to have Ned Jarrett 2-time NASCAR Champion; 1960 & 1965, Rex White; 1961 NASCAR Champion, Marvin Panch; 1960 Daytona 500 winner and other past drivers present to witness this historic event. Mr. Jarrett announced to the drivers to "Start your engines" and thus racing returned to Shelby, North Carolina. This is what memories are made of. I want to also thank my wife Julie, son Alex, brother Todd and Sister-in-Law Pat in attendance for supporting my quest for the win but, I'll settle for a 2nd place this time.
