This car was brought to you from Detroit by DODGE
oops I was off one year tks Ray for clarification on date
Ray, I was so glad to see a Dodge back in victory lane and proud that a fellow Michigan native took the MOPAR to the checkers. Chrysler hasn't always produced the most compatible cars with Ford and GM "lately" but they never give up and have always been known to build cars "outside the box" if you will. The "Daytona, the Roadrunner, the Twister, Duster, and Scamp", and now the new "Challenger, 300, and impressive looking 200 and Avenger". Chrysler will survive and thanks to Roger Penske, who obviously still believes in MOPAR, Dodge is crowned King of Talladega once again.
I have a story about that Dave Marcis win and a picture to back it up. But I won't share it here.
Tim, a wins a win
To Jim Wilmore: What I have to say about the win by Marcis is a VERY POSITIVE statement and something I discussed with Dave when he was at Columbia. I choose not to mention it here because it sounds much to "self serving" to bring up such matters here. Believe me, I am a Dodge person, a Mopar Man.
According to a 2008 Talladega Superspeedway News Release, the 25,998 competitive miles logged by Dave Marcis in his 61 career Talladega starts is the most of any driver in Talladega history.
The distance around the earth at the Equator is 24,901.5 miles. Marcis bested that distance by nearly 1100 miles during his Talladega racing career!
LOL
Dave, I sure do appreciate your investigative facts, who would have known that Dave circled the Earth at a race track, going around in circles at a much smaller scale. I wonder what scale Talladega is in relation to the earth, hmmm?
