The boys in Bush series (nation wide) had another go at each other but Kevin wouldnt stay still to play so when he got to far ahead somthing happened for a caution. It was getting close to the end so someone decided one more bunch up was needed. Yup someone fired an empty water bottle onto the track and it was caution time. Green flag with 3 to go and Brad told Steinhouse to go sick them and tapped him on the rear. Zoom went Steinhouse and Kevin was caught with his position being changed from first to what he did not want.

Brad got into a heated argument with Kevin over him accusing Brad of throwing the bottle out. Brad and Kevinsat on the wall talking to reporters. neither driver backed down from his stance . Kevin blamed Brad of throwing the bottle out to tighten up the field. Kevins last statement to Brad was "Hope you sleep good"

Oh by the way Danica finished 13th on her first time at Atlanta.

Aint Sportsman racing fun??? Dang right it is.

You notice that " Happy" Harvick didn't exactly get up in Bad Brad's face. Too bad he didn't try one of his famed flying leaps. Would have been fun to see Brad knock that always whiny sore loser Harvick on his can. According to post race news reports, the caution was caused by a piece of aluminum at the top of the turn.

As reported by Jim Utter in The Charlotte Observer:

On Lap 183 and Harvick with a big lead, NASCAR threw a caution for debris in Turn 1 and thats when the controversy began.

Under caution, ESPN repeatedly showed footage of Keselowski throwing a water bottle out of his car, but the network confirmed after the race the footage was not live, but taped.

ESPN did show footage of the actual debris which caused the caution, but by that time most viewers, fans and even Harvick himself were under the impression the water bottle caused the caution.

If the folks like Harvick are gonna get their tails in a twitter over water bottles they can always go back to using the paper cups full of water passed to the driver on a pole - high tech poles like the one used by Bud Moore held TWO cups.

OR:

They could also return to having the picnic jugs mounted behind the driver's seat with the plastic tube for the driver to sip through. We used "red" Gatorade in Derrike Cope's picnic jug, but Curtis & Little Joe were reputed to have mint julips in their jugs at Darlington (NOT Atlanta) on Labor Day.

I have no idea today how it is done, but at one time every "official" race report was extremely specific about the EXACT cause of the caution, down to the exact cars involved or any other circumstances.

In our Richmond press box (and all other press boxes) a sheet of legal sized paper was kept in the typewriter being constantly updated. Teresa Dennis on our scoring loop from the NASCAR scoring booth to the press box phoned Bob Latford with the explicit reason for the caution as stated by NASCAR. This information was typed by Judy Tucker into the official report stating cars, circumstances, etc. and became part of the record distributed to all media, including the television broadcast booth to which it was immediately faxed.

All pre-computer in the NASCAR scoring booth.

I could have swore I was taking up for Brad-- That twitter party last nite was off to the wrong race. Brad looked so smug setting next to pout boy, but I think it was a put on by Kevin. He was hurt because he lost that $1.398 last nite but be assured he will be cockey as all get out tonite, Heck danica was the one dodging bullets last nite from tires to cars. But she came through with no ill effects that I saw, but Ill bet i will be told otherwise later on..

Back awhile ago Stewart got screwed outa' a sure win with a late race caution for a water bottle.

It's about time NASCAR put the end to this water bottle tossing. There's a big difference between a colored filledGatorade bottle and a helmet tear-off.

I put all this in the same category as the roll bar padding and driver glove cautions we had several years ago. All deliberate to cause a change in the outcome of a race.

What goes in the cockpit should stay in the cockpit. That includes Brad's cell phone he had in his drivers suit at Daytona andtraction control remote devices.

All this removes the sometimes questionable judgement calls by NASCAR race control.

It's a "No-Brainer".

Careful now with that word "NO--Brainer" Someone in Daytona may think you are insinuating something

I said Gatorade bottle, not the news media or anyone here because it falls into the same category as a water bottle. Do ya' think all these bottles are empty?

Ya' think Carl Edwards is drinking H2O or VitaminWater (one of his sponsors) out there? Ya' think it might be colored, or is there a NASCAR rule for only clear colored fluids????

How about a section in the NASCAR rulebook to describe whattype containers, volume and type ofcontents are allowed and what direction they must be discarded in during a race. Oh yeah, how about a rule that they have a return deposit value to generate additional NASCAR revenue. (this is a joke ya'll).

Biodegradeable ??????????????? Why is that even worthy of mention. Don't think it's gonna' degrade and evaporateunder the NASCAR spotters careful watching eyes.

Glass Coke bottles????????? Where did that one come from? Ya' can't even have those by non-drivers in the grandstands.

Bottles under the pedals?????????? Ever hear of a drink holder?? Ya' see them in all the cars for insulated containers. How many in your street car?

Get a grasp on what the real issue here his. Changing the race outcome because of something tossed out on the race track.

PK, I didn't lose on nuttin' on this one. Wait and see if NASCAR makes a rule about what I'm sayin'. That's easier than NASCAR explaining during the race subjective judgement calls for cautions.

Now it's Mr. Hager ????????

Screamin' ????????? Don't have the slightest idea what you're talkin' about.

I might use ???????????????? toput emphasis on a subject, but I didn't use any CAPS. I always thought CAPS was computer lingo for raising ones voice.

So, Mrs. Lilley, if I'm in error of proper computer etiquette, I offer a humble apology.

With that being said. ?Question? for you and others here. What's the permitted number of ?? marksbefore I'm yellin' and screamin" at ya'll ? I want to make sure I don't offend anyone here and get my butt in a sling, or even worse, like kicked outa' here. I understand it's happened to others.

I think I said bottle but it was the argument in the pits that brought that out--The piece of metal or aluminum was what the caution was about.

The principal said no rough stuff in the gym or you will run laps-- The extreme and I mean extreme get expelled.. I got that from a good source .

All my friends are meanie's on the track--trust me, but some just relive the days -- me too sometimes. But in spite of it all we all still can set down a drink a cold Black Russian (Dr Pepper and Diet Pepsi mixed).. Now thats all I got to say about that ! !

frank - nascar could have gave him or his crewa directive or he could have done it himself - most bottles are in a holder - drivers are not suppose to throw bottles out the window - anyone think about this - what if a fan threw this same bottle onto the track - he would have been escorted out and probably prosecuted and fined - it was only a few years ago that another driver was caught at charlotte throwing a piece of roll bar padding out the window to get a caution - insiders say that it was ordered by nascar - nascar has three silent channels - officials, crew chiefs, drivers - these channels cannot be overheard and are on silent frequency seperate from everyone else - point is if nascar wants a caution to make the end of a otherwise boring race exciting - you can be sure they will get one .

I read whereNASCAR is checking to see if the aluminum debris found in turn onewas a Miller Lite beer can tossed out the window of the #22.

Mrs. Lilley,

I believe I made my points perfectly clear about water bottles. If not, I'll start allover again.

Please answer my question about computer etiquette. Don't think that's an unreasonable request because you brought the subject up. Otherwise the possibility exists that you'll forever be referring to me as Mr. Hager. Being an ex-school teacher, I know whenthe formal gender reference is normally used.

Mr. Hager

The best way I know to use this site is when it gets sticky or out of context I will immediately post another subject that is totally on another subject, and if you feel like it post two. Most times that separates most ideas or plans

Keselowski Water bottle

I would like everyone to take a look at the video. Now I have been around racing a long time and watching this video several times I have came up with these questions/ conclusion.

1. Why did Brad throw the bottle out if it still contained liquid when the race was almost finished?

2. What the track worker picked up looked like to me was very flimsy and most likely a piece of rubber that came from a shredded tire.

3. What ever was picked up was way up against the wall and looked nowhere near the racing groove.

4. Brad says it could not have caused the caution because he threw it out 20 to 30 laps prior when time lapse show 1 minute and 26 seconds later when it take 33 to 35 seconds on used tires to complete a lap. That equates to 3 laps not 20 to 30.

Bottom line is if the bottle is in a holder which they obviously are then why not wait till you pit and throw it out in you pits or heck even throw it out AFTER a caution has been thrown as long as you throw it on the apron of the track. No one can convince me that it needs to be thrown out during green flag runs. Hand some large fines and this will stop.

yes - but there was no fine - or a any kind of penalty - didnt exactly look like a water bottle to me either - most drivers have coolers behind the seat that hold much more than a bottle anyway and dont use bottles - i think what it looks like here is - if there is no debris - make some debris - this could have been a directive of nascar - or brad could have acted alone - but nascar took no action against him what so ever - same thing happened at charlotte with roll bar padding being thrown out to get a caution - again no action against the driver - so i think some drivers are smart enough to pull the chain instead of trying to push it - politics is allways a factor - even in a two person hotdog stand let alone nascar - anyone who falls out of good graces with nascar has a hard road ahead of him - at this level and money - there is no where else for them to go race a stock car and have the same money - bottom line - when nascar wants a caution - it will have one .
