Powerball Jackpot Winner In Virginia To Claim $217 Million Prize

The winner of Wednesday's Powerball jackpot won $217 million , according to ABC local affiliate WRIC.

The sole ticket that hit the Powerball jackpot , matching all six numbers, was sold in Richmond, Va., NBC's WWBT in Richmond reports.

The winning numbers in the Feb. 6 drawing of the multi-state lottery were 5, 27, 36, 38, 41 and the red Powerball number was 12.

Wednesday's Powerball jackpot is the biggest single prize won since a record-breaking $588 million award was split between two tickets in November 2012.

The next Powerball drawing will be on Saturday, Feb. 9, for $40 million. Powerball is played in 42 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Dang sure weren't me! I haven't played the lottery for years other than maybe the occasional pool for the big one. My biggest gamble is driving in to work sober from out here in Powhatan.

Haven't visited RR for awhile except to view Patty's notices and posts. I trust everyone is well. Car show this weekend. Maybe I'll run in to somebody. Ha! I wouldn't know most of y'all if I did run into you. I did get to talk at length with brother Ray Lamm last year. He isunmistakable if you've ever seen a picture of him.

The first time Al Grinnan ever sat in that orange #00 car fielded by Coleman Mann from Powhatan - at Martinsville in March 1973 - Al broke the Martinsville Late Model Sportsman qualifying record and beat Sam Ard in another #00 for the pole position in the 1973 Dogwood 500.

Powhatan has produced a few notables, Shirley Wood, Donald "Pop" Moore, and I reckon a few more that escape me right now....oh yeah...Stinky Weeks daughter was a hot lick in the modified division, mostly at Langley I think.

Oh, good stuff! Sure, I remember Coleman Mann now, and of course Al Grinnan. I notice also mention of Johnny Lehner, Coleman's engine guru. I knew Johnny way back when. Went to school with his brother and sister. Johnny was one of those mechanical genius's along the lines of Jimmy Scott and Roy Gunter, both of Amelia. Johnny operated out of his basement on Chevelle Drive, a couple of houses from my old boss. I seem to recall that we had some parts dealing back when. I believe Johnny sold me a set of gently used pistons for a 350 I was building.

That is indeed the Coleman Mann from Powhatan car, with Bubba Tatum behind it in the #83. I'm like you... don't know if Al was still in it in 1975 or not. I was living in Wilson in 1975 and driving up only 2-3 times on Friday night to Southside.

You can see that several things changed in 1973 at Martinsville from the preliminary Dogwood 500 entry list. Coleman Mann is listed on the preliminary entry list as the driver/owner of #00, with Al in another car. Note our RR member, Wayne Andrews at the top of the preliminary list in car #0 and Sam Ard farther down in #05. Al Grinnan was originally expected in the Tiny Slayton #29, before he went out in Coleman's car and set the track record.

fellas i cant remember the year but al also drove a chevelle no 15 but i dont know who owned it

Al drove the #15 dirt car at Wilson... I think it was out of Tidewater, Va., Charles. He was also driving the #42 and #00 on asphalt at the same time.

i remember the 00 car and i had forgotten he drove a no 42 as well al was a tough competiter

On Tuesday, May 10, 2011, Herbert L. Gebler, Jr., age 67 of Laurel, MD. Beloved husband of Marines L. Gebler. He started his own company, Gebler Headers Racing Cars of Beltsville 47 years ago. He was member of the American Legion Post 60 in Laurel, a lifetime member of the Amateur Trap Shooters Association (ATA) and shot in Flyer Tournaments around the world. Friends may call on Saturday, May 14, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Ave., Laurel, MD where a funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Interment Union Cemetery, Burtonsville, MD.
