Not Plymouth, Not Ford, Not Dodge, Not Pontiac, Not Oldsmobile, Not Buick, BUT CHEVROLET took Richard Petty to his first short track win in four years at Martinsville, Virginia's 1979 Virginia 500.

As a blog "re-run", here is a link to a blog entry I posted about a year ago. DW won the pole in his Caprice nicknamed "Dolly". But when the dust settled, Ol' Blue was back in familiar territory at Clay Earles' speedway.

The 1979 spring Marty race was also the first one with Neil Bonnett behind the wheel of the famed Wood Brothers Mercury. The Woods and David Pearson parted ways after many successful seasons but a botched pit stop in the Rebel 500 at Darlington.

My, how times flies. Doesn't seem possible that it was that long ago. Thanks for posting Dave, and thanks for the follow-up Chase. I just heard from a friend in Martinsville this afternoon, that it is snowing there today. Not that the weather report has anything to do with this post, but I just find this global warming scary!!!!

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.
