Today, Monday, April 5, 2010, the "real" Jimmy Johnson of Racers Reunion delivered the 1961 Chevrolet number 4 race car to Love Chevrolet located at 1255 Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce, SC. The car will be there through at least Thursday, April 8th. Also in the showroom is a fully restored. beautiful red 1958 Chevrolet Impala.
The Rex White car, the 1961, is the type car the defending Grand National Champion from 1960, Rex White was campaigning when Love Chevrolet opened its doors there on Knox Abbott Drive. That same year, 1961, Ned Jarrett, driving another 1961 Chevrolet, would win the championship in NASCAR's top division.
So, 1961, was a big year for Chevrolet and was certainly a big year for the central Midlands of South Carolina as Love Chevrolet opened its doors to become the biggest and best Chevrolet dealership anywhere around. Love Chevrolet is deeply involved in communitiy projects and is the title sponsor for The Second Annual Love Chevrolet Columbia Speedway Racers Reunion. Love started with Racers Reunion with the first such event last year and has remained as title sponsor.
So, go by Love Chevrolet on Knox Abbott Drive and check out the number 4 Chevrolet. Beautiful race car. If you carefully just above the driver's door, you'll see where Rex autographed the car.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.
