Retirement of The Legend

From driving race cars that is.

Over the past 45 days, I have found myself in two races cars from which I was very fortunate to extract myself and it was only through the assistance of others I was able to get through the window anyway to get out. Age has not only been a disaster in my metabolism function but also in my agility to step in and out of a race car. But I guess the crowning moment for me was driving the number 43 Plymouth Mike Sykes so graciously brought to Columbia for the Festival and cutting down the right rear tire on the back straight at Columbia Speedway. I don't handle destroying other people's property very well so with overall consideration of the two exiting the cars episodes and the tire debacle, I have driven my last race car.

However, be forewarned that my retirement from behind the wheel only frees me up to spend MORE time TALKING, and, as Dargan Watts pointed out recently, posing for pictures and talking to people. After all, I have always been a much better talker than a race driver anyway!

Tim

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

Somehow I think this is a ploy of some sort to draw attention away from the real truth --and that is Tim is in fact only waiting for his true ride to become reality so as he will be able to truly become his old self again because R/R is on the verge of having serious growing pains and Tim will most certainly be needed to convey the lastest news to the members but retire??? naaaa he is only realigning the stars for the near future of our racing and trust me he will be in the drivers seat on the track. Beware all you racers he aint retiring

Are those windows on the race cars smaller now-a-days or did we get bigger? Now we know why Tiny Lund, John Sears and Buddy Baker took a little exta time getting in and out of their cars.Your come-back effort was a semi-failure, but I know you gave it an old college effort, just as you did back in the 60's.R.I. P. Tim The Driver! LOL

Well I for one am very disapointed but I have not released you from our contract to go drive for someone else. Do you think our friend and hero would quit over a cut down tire that was running on borrowed time anyway. The clutch has been coming out of the old 43 before you got in it the first time at the Rock. We will get the correct tires and readjust the clutch and I demand my driver fulfill the contract . P.S. That tire should be in the Hall of Fame. I know that it has been autograped by the legend.

You tell him Robbie He aint quitting, not this old goat. Fuss over stuff yes and complain because the widow is to small yes, and be in line when the dinner bell is rung you betcha.I do know he will be back because I have a short video taken at Columbia speedway that will show Tim that he will indeed pour himself into the seat next time we all get to the track, So never fear he will need a RE-TIRE man again thats for sure---------------------------------------------------------memories
