Great piece Patrick.
As for the traffic situation, thinking back to that first World 600 in 1960, seems to me the traffic situation was awful. My uncle Bobby was driving and I was just looking. The only big track I had been too before Charlotte was Darlington and the difference in the two was huge. I took the grandsons to the 600 in 2011 and finally got out of the parking lot at 2:30 a.m. Got the boys home at 4:30 a.m. That was a long day and although I enjoyed it because I had all three grandsons at their first race, I was worn out for a week trying to catch up. I won't even talk about the cost of getting each one of them their "personal pizza" from concessions. Ann still doesn't know I had to take out a second mortgage to pay for concessions. But the boys loved it and we had a great time so it was worth it to me.
