"Thumbs up" to NASCAR from The Legend

A couple of weeks ago, while working in the yard, I slipped and was about to fall hard on concrete when I reached out to grab a post to break the fall. As it happened, by wrist and thumb bent back pretty far and, frankly, it hurt big time. As I am very accustomed to my lack of coordination causing pain, I didn't give too much thought to the fact that my hand was really, really hurting.

Next morning when I got up, the hand was slightly "puffed" but the really hurting part was the thumb joint. Someone suggested I pick up a "thumb brace" which could be found at my local pharmacy. As the pain got worse, I went and paid $15.00 for the brace. When I got home I was opening the box when I noticed the NASCAR logo on the top of the box with the words "Officially Licensed". What a surprise!

While I do not intentionally avoid buying NASCAR approved and supported items, and I do support NASCAR sponsors when I can, it's not as it once was. I always shop Lowe's, for instance, and wouldn't set foot in that Toyota sponsoring Home Depot. But I was totally unprepared for finding the NASCAR Officially Licensed thumb brace. Leaves me to wonder, however, if the middle finger brace is also officially licensed by NASCAR for those who may have injured that digit?

Thanks, NASCAR, for licensing the product. I must explain, however, that as your efforts to attract fans to the races, the brace hasn't helped me all that much yet. Hand still hurts pretty badly. But thanks anyway.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

Tim you did not read the fine print on the instructions, look closely at the disclaimer where it says product should be used along with

Hope you feel better fast now Sir

Glad to see you supporting NASCAR. Did you happen to pass the enema section and see if there were NASCAR logos displayed?

No, Dave, I had no need for that section at this time. I have no doubt, after the thumb brace issue, that there are "officially licensed" NASCAR enema's as well. I am thinking perhaps some in the Daytona offices may be in need of such relief.

Thanks, Johnny, for the feel good wishes. Not much better and it's been like two weeks. My entire left hand is hurting now so it was really rough typing the Legendtorial this week. But it went "to bed" as they say in the press, (lol, like I would know) yesterday about 6:30 p.m. Always have Goodys around here. In fact, when I was hanging out with the Goody's Dash teams, Jerry (I forget his last name) gave me a case of the stuff. May still have some packs around here somewhere as I don't often get in pain enough to use it.

Tim, I'm guessing you're thinking of RR member, Jerry Haislip over in Roanoke, Va. who used to work the Dash Series for Goody's.

We took not only the powders from the Goody's folks, but the cash as well!

Dave, thank you! Yes, that is the Jerry to whom I refer. One really super nice guy! Didn't realize he was a member here. We need to get him to the Hall of Fame visit on the 16th. Sure hoping you're going to make it Dave.

Perhaps a good soaking in the tub with this soap might help.

Tim, Does the brace work only in the thumbs up position...? Just curious

After Homestead, you can resume shopping at Home Depot as their time in NASCAR will be done. Though after this mishap, perhaps your home improvement and lawn care days are coming to an end. Ha.

Now, Laverne, I have never seen that soap. Maybe would like to try it. Do you happen to know if Brian was involved in making it? If so, I assume it is "lye" soap!

No, Jeff, it works in the thumbs down position as well. May have to use that position again when I get out of my good mood.

Was offically licensed in 1996 and is in the shape of a car with number 46 on the roof.

Made by the Rovar Soap Co. in LA.Perhaps Brian once had a dog named Rovar!!!
