Edwin "Ed" Marshall Blanton, 74, of 3564 Buffalo Ford Rd., Asheboro, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Memorial Services, 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Mountain of Faith Christian Church, Asheboro.

Officiating, Rev. Randy Blanton, Rev. Sherrill Curtis.

Ed was born in Loris, SC (Horry county) November 30, 1940 to General Marshall Blanton and Flossie Brinson Blanton. He was an avid fan of NASCAR racing. In the 1960's and 1970's he worked for Bud Moore Engineering and Petty Enterprises. He retired from from Tolaram Fibers where he was Plant Manager. Later in life he enjoyed painting, fishing, carving walking sticks, and spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Cox Blanton, and brothers, J.C. Blanton and General Wayne Blanton.

Ed was working for Bud Moore when they ran the Mercury Cougars.

My wife was from Horry Co and remembers him in school . Small world we live in I guess Rest in peace Mr Blanton mixed color rosebud wreath
