SPECIAL TICKET OFFER FOR NEXT RACE AT BRISTOL

For a track that usually sold out well over 100,000 seats, it was obvious from watching today's Bristol race that attendance has just about hit bottom. Television ratings fall like rain drops in a thunderstorm and track attendance is less than the number of pit crew and race team members in the pits. This is the pathetic state of Brian France's NASCAR.

It has just been announced that, for the next race, Bristol will offer free tickets to any fans weighing in excess of 600 pounds in an effort to make the stands appear fuller than they were today. So start eating, ladies and gentlemen. Buy out all the sweets and fat products and your local Food City and you can enjoy the night race at Bristol for free!

For anyone who perhaps thinks this is a negative comment towards NASCAR, it is simply the truth. All but the part about the free tickets for the 600 pounds plus folks. But who knows, after reading my post, they may just use that criteria.

And here I just shed 40 lbs.

The sight of an empty Bristol was Shocking. The TV kept showing overhead, Blimp shots too...it was painfully obvious. With all the seat removal going on among NASCAR tracks, will Bristol's 'coliseum' stands be next?

I'm sure the scrap aluminum and steel dealers get down on their knees every evening and say, "Thank you NASCAR, it's a good time to be a scrap dealer."

E & D Speciality Stands of North Collins, NY erected the 112,000+ steel & aluminum seats that once stood at Richmond International Raceway over the course of several summers. They also erected stands at Martinsville, North Wilkesboro, New Hampshire and Dover. Don't know if they're reaping any benefit from the destruction of those same stands or not.

Maybe Bristol is hoping this football game experiment works out. Could be the only way Bristol will get 160,000 people back in the stands.
