I wonder if Dale Jr had stayed with Teresa Earnhardt at DEI would he be enjoying the same kind of success that Jamie McMurray is now only with him driving #8McMurray drives the No. 1 Chevy for Earnhardt Ganassi Racing. The No. 1 car is the Earnhardt half of the team. That car has 3 wins in 2010. Daytona, Indy and Charlotte. Not bad for a driver who was released from Roush Racing last year and for a while did not know if he would have a ride for this year.McMurray's 3 wins are 3 more than Earnhardt has scored with Rick Hendrick this year. That is also one more win than Roush Racing has scored with all 4 of its drivers combined. You can ask Dale Earnhardt Jr if he should have stayed.

Whether or not Dale, Jr. would be better off if he had stayed with Earnhardt/Ganassi Racing is just speculation at this point, but I don't believe he would be worse off if he had made that decision. Of course, it was DEI when he was faced with the decision, not EGR. My thinking at the time was that he had made the wrong decision because I felt he had received some bad business advice from his sister, Kelley. I believe that Dale & Teresa Earnhardt intended for DEI to provide a good lifestyle for all 4 of their children and that Dale, Jr. & Kelley were making unreasonable demands before his decision to move to Hendrick Motorsports. At this point, that dcision does not seem to have been a positive one........at least not as far as his performance is concerned. I suspect that part of the reason for this has to do with the different culture at HMS compared to DEI & EGR. I'm happy to see Jamie doing well.........I think he is a good driver and was fortunate to get a good break when he certainly needed one.

I think if would have stayed, he would get better finishes, maybe in the Chase. Just look, he was about 20 points out of the Chase the last year he drove for DEI or Gannasi or Felix Sabates, or whatever it is. Sure I think he would have had success this year with the team, but look at Juan Pablo, the only win this year is at Watkins Glen (of course it's a road course) and his cars come out of the same operation as Jamie's. So it really depends on the driver. Just look at his Dad.... Dale Sr had a lot of bad luck from mid 1995-late 97'. But he didn't move on or nothing. Now do I personally think Jr. should have stayed?? Maybe, when Mr. Hendrick there waves $$$ at you and gives you the best equipment money can buy, you still need a heck of a driver. If he would've stayed with DEI, I think he could've had more than 1 win in 3 years......

You would think that they could throw darts at Jr's car to set it up and get a top 15 out of it

I think Jamie knows he has to race hard to keep a ride where Jr thinks because he is a Earnhardt he will always have a ride and maybe he will he is still a fan favorite for now.

Hers my take on this whole Jr/DEI/Hendricks deal. I think Jr has more talent than he's been able to show in the last few years. We all agree that the equipment is top notch at Hendricks. He quailies well but when the green flag drops he works his way to the back in nearly every race. The problem is always in the handling. This tells me that the issue is either with the driver or the Crew Chief, or both. Jr is on his third Crew Chief and the reports are that they seem to work well together, though the results say otherwise. I honestly feel that Jr can't inform a Crew Chief as to what the car needs and the direction they should go. I don't see a change in the results any time in the near future. Sorry Jr fans.

Dale did not win three times this year for a good reason.Too many roosters in the hen house.Tim Richmond went through the same thing, as did Darrell Waltrip and all the other people who has drove for Hendricks. You might get a couple of wins - here or there. But the good stuff and the technology all goes into one or two cars and that is it!The races for the most part are all won in the board rooms and not on the race track.Sponsor X puts Y amount of dollars into the pocket of NASCAR and boom - you get a win.If you are a NASCAR tech inspector and a certain car is chose to win the race - they are lucky if they check to see if all the decals are on the car when you go out to qualify - let alone go through the car with a fine tooth comb in post inspection. It's Rigged - are you happy, I have said it!When Jr won those races with DEI - they were going once a month and buying their tires directly off Good Year and they had all month to mess with the tires before the races started. They didn't have to look for matched sets - they were buying them - directly off the production floor.DEI is no longer DEI - it is a incorporation of several teams - that share jointly all their technology - such as RCR, KHI, DEI, etc....

If Dale wishes to return, RCR has a old Black Car with a number 3 on the door, just waiting for Jr to sit in it and win.Who cares if it was your daddy's number - it is better to be remembered for winning in your daddy's old car then to be remembered as a has been or never was, who only won races because daddy bought them for you.Jr and Richard already showed us at the Busch race that it could be done.

Hey jb1, I hope I never become as cynical as seem to have become. I do not buy the idea that any of the big teams provide better equipment to certain teams, and less to others. As long as the team is intact and It makes no sence. Jr's car and motors are built by the same engine shop that provides motors to all 4 Hendrick teams and the 2 Stewart cars and Furniture Row car. There may be more. The tuning can be changed to suit the driver/crew chief preference, but for the most part every engine is the same. Why would any engine builder put a poor preforming engine in the car of the most popular driver ( for some, not me)? The whole argument makes no sence.

If his name was not Earnhardt, he probably would not be in a cup car.
